College Dorm Room Essentials Series

Hey everyone,

I realized as I have been moving towards my transition to dorm life that I am not alone as I struggle to pick what to take with me and what to leave at home. I also realized that I am just crazy enough that I am going to commit to a series of posts to help others as they work through the same things. :D
So  I have decided that I will have a "College Dorm Room Essentials Series" which basically will document and share all of the cool websites and companies I have found that have helped me in my process. Finding better storage solutions for all of my shoes, a better way to keep all of my clothing in the closet, and some things that are purely for fun. Because college without fun is pretty boring.

I have already done some of the posts without realizing it CreaClip an easy way to save on haircuts here! In the near future I will also be reviewing Woolzies dryer balls and many other great products that will make saving money in college that much easier.

I will also be sharing things like price breakdowns I have done of my own predicted college expenses. It will be a lot of research so I figured I might as well share it with other people so they can benefit from my effort :)

Thats about it. I will start posting in this series in the coming week :)

Until Next Time,

GLITTERPUKEE!!! :D

In the Near Future: Unisqo Lenses

Hey Ya'll!!!
I a going to be doing a review of Unisqo lenses. They will be red and awesome :D

I also have to comment on the fact that when you go to sign up/register in their shop the automatic setting is that you are not signed up for emails! That is pretty darn nice of them to not take advantage of the fact that most people are a bit lazy and don't read everything in the form.

I also love that they have a comprehensive contact lens library. What does that mean? This means that they have almost all the information you could possibly need about circle lenses. All on their site!

I cannot express how excited I am about getting these contacts :D It is going to be so cool finally having my costume all together!

Until Next Time

TheraFit sandals giveaway (helping a friend, again)

 Giveaway hosted by Beautiful Incentives

Hey everyone!!! I am helping out a friend by sharing her giveaway. She is pretty darn awesome as you will read below (as a blogger) and I would love to work with therafit myself in the future. They sound awesome and this is a great giveaway :D I am including her entire post because I think you guys should know about what you are entering for :D

I have had a bad back since I was in my early twenties. Due in part to bad genes and just plain growing up a monkey. As I got older It got worse and I eventually had to have back surgery TWICE at the age of just 25. The doctors said that my x-ray looked like that of someone who got into a bad car wreck. During my recovery I found that it was essential to have a good shoe and to this day I am very picky about what I wear. Flip flops are very bad for the back and legs, but we all love them, so I wear them sparingly.

Well, if you have a very picky and sensitive body like me with the added bonus of fibromylagia, you will love these sandals. With Therafit, by Dr. Lisa Masterson, there is an answer. We all know her from the entertaining Doctors show. If you don't, you should definitely watch. She has manufactured a shoe that makes it so that you can be absolutely comfortable in your flip flops or sandals and fashionable at the same time, which is very hard to find!

I have searched high and dry for a flip flop or sandal that wouldn't leave my back and legs in bad pain just after an hour or less. I have only found two types so far that have managed this and The Therafit style is my favorite of them. The design is very ergonomic with a WOMAN'S comfort in mind. Finally, A sandal that looks as good as it feels!

First of all, Therafit's presentation was so cute and thoughtful. They wrapped up the box like a regular gift! I love the colors and i'm a recycle nut, so I will get use out of the ribbon.

I chose the Tiffany Black Sandal. This particular style also comes in white. Look at the gorgeous detail !

I chose the black, which goes with absolutely everything as we all know, and I love the added bling on the top. I have worn these with skirts, dresses, maxis, jeans and capris. They go with everything! The jewels on the top really take away from any kind of geriatric feel that you might get wearing clunkier comfort shoes. They are made very durable and I do not see them giving up any time soon. They look like they will last years.

Now that we have ooh'd and ahh'd over the look of the shoe, let's get into the specifics. The reason behind the ergonomics and just why it is so comfortable.

The Therafit has a special 4 layer system for maximum shock absorption and comfort. It is meant to be supportive for those who are on their feet a lot. I do a lot of walking because I can't run with the way my back is, so these were just meant for me. The cushioning of the sole is adjustable depending on how soft you want the shoe to feel and it is meant to have the ultimate comfort for at least 12 hours of the day. Those without a back condition I can only imagine how comfortable these would be on you!

They would also provide the prevention of added damaged from wearing flip flops and other non-ergonomic shoes!

See those little balls? Those massage the bottom of your feet as you walk and you can tell that these help keep that comfort lasting all day. They have very thick soles, but not too thick and perfectly contour to the shape of your feet.

The three circles at the bottom are where they can adjust to how soft you want the fit to be.

Look at that bling shine!
It took me all of 5 min to get used to walking in them and then I was addicted hardcore. My feet, back, hips and legs love these. They fit perfectly. I normally wear a size 8.5 - 9 so these run big at size 8. If you are a half size, it is important to size down, because they run big.

Something very important for me to point out

I just test drove a pair of new over 2 inch high  flip flops. They looked comfy as can be and of course really cute, but not even an hour later I was in severe and I mean SEVERE pain in my feet. I didn't even feel that kind of pain with Therafit at the END of the day. So that is just my glowing testament of how well these work.

One more time with a closeup of the bling bling, because I love it.

Another reason this company is so great is that they give back to a charity of YOUR choice with every purchase. So it's a great way to feel good on your feet, along with feeling good helping others.

These sandals and fitness shoes come in every color and style you could want. Here is just a small peak at what's in store.

Right now until July 31st, you can grab an awesome pair of full price shoes for a whopping 50% off!! These are pricey, though worth it, but this deal is amazing and I would take advantage while you can!

You can also take comfort in the fact that they have FREE Shipping and Exchanges!

BUT, the good people over at Therafit are also letting me offer up a chance for one lucky reader to receive a pair of their own!! Good luck to everyone! You will adore these!! Ends 8-7 12 am EST.

I love jewelry,  but I love it more when it has a meaning behind it. It's kind of like my love for tattoos, but only if they have a significant reason for being there, a story or metaphor if you will. I first found this company through a gift I received from my mother on my birthday.  This company is like no other, in that the art and skill  behind their creations is workmanship from military weapons.

CreaClip Review

Hi everyone!

This another one of those products that can save you SO MUCH MONEY AND TIME! Seriously, I personally have never been one of those people who can rationalize spending more than $30 on a hair cut, much less $75.

The CreaClip is a haircutting tool to help save you money. The more daring will go for a full on new 'do with layers etc because of how easy the CreaClip makes it. The more timid will go for a basic trim that requires minimal risk; put hair in clip, make sure the clip is level, cut. I of course, am in between those two categories quick snugly. Partially because I really like how my latest cut came out, the deal at AVEDA made that easy, and partially because I don't love how my hair looks with really intense layers. Long layers are my thing.

I decided to do a general trim in the back of my hair where nothing is going on at all, and the front I re layered my bangs to a general extent freehand. They frame my face, starting below the chin. Not wanting to get too crazy with it I created an altered version of the technique they use to create layers. Instead of taking all of my hair to the front of my head and putting it in the big CreaClip, I took only the front, center half. Like the hair that one cuts to make bangs, but a bit further back.

I really do love the versatility of the hair cut you can get with this device. However, I found that cutting the back of your own hair is impossible if you want a straight cut. That means you have to find someone who you trust with scissors and your hair to do it for you. There may be a secret technique to doing this but I have yet to find it.

I have cut my sister's hair, my brother's and my own hair in the past week because we all needed a trim. My hair was the hardest because it was the first attempt and I had a clear vision of how I could maintain my current hairstyle but not how I would do it with the CreaClip.

My sister's hair was pretty straight forward. She has really insane curly hair but she wet her hair completely and put tons of conditioner in it so that I could just do a trim all around. She had a panic attack because I took off precisely one inch. It was fabulous. But her hair looks good and she doesn't even remember how much I had cut off it.

My little brother's was actually the most complicated. He has layers everywhere because he is a guy! He also refuses to properly wash his hair (again, as a stereotypical almost teen boy) so his hair was kind of gross to work with. I had to use a spray bottle of water and a spray conditioner to attempt to get his hair to behave before starting. His hair is a bit funky looking after the fact, but it is a lot better than the shaggy dog look he was sporting before.

I would include photos of all of our hair cuts but the two youngers won't stay still long enough for me to get a photo of them.

I love how easy it was to go from a bit shaggy to polished. I that the price point is good for most people, $29.99 isn't terrible.  (keep in mind that you should pick up pair of either lightweight sewing scissors or haircutting scissors to make sure your cut will look its best)

Overall I think this is a great product and would recommend CreaClip to anyone looking to save money by maintaining their cut between salon visits.

Until Next Time,

HYD for men

Hey Ya'll!!!!!!!
So today; is not a normal post.... I am reviewing a bunch of men's products. Has my boyfriend even seen them yet? NO! And he probably will only ever get the shave cream. Why? Because they are too friggin awesome not too keep for myself XD

The products I am being a bit selfish about are from HYD for men. I received them as a member of the Ifabbo blogging community.

Razor Shield
The line is focuses quite a bit on the product they call "Razor Shield". The environmental factors, etc. What everyone loves it for is that in the end it saves you money! It protects your razor from getting rusty, dull and unusable. If you are into the straight razors (sorry electric heads, this shield is a no go for you!) and don't just pick up the cheapest disposable ones in the aisle, you know how hefty the price of staying smooth is. That is the basis of the Razor Shield, it allows that one razor head to last for an entire month. Which is awesome! I shave my legs every other day (laziness more than lack of hair) and I am pretty sure that means I could stretch TWO MONTHS out of a single blade refill! That is so amazing in my mind, especially as I move toward college where money is tight and buying razors will come second to food.

 According to their site;
Razor Shield helps create a liquid barrier, protecting razor blades from the corrosive chemical reactions they are exposed to during shaving and everyday use.
Sharp Blades coated in our proprietary blend of natural oils help your blade stay sharper longer, keeping your face smooth and revitalized, resulting in a clean shave.
Save your blades. And your face.
All while saving money.
That sounds pretty great just to start off with.

Now; the math. If I spend about $15 on a starter package... which comes with one or two blades (I don't use pretty girly razors for the most part, shick quatro in mens or womens are my favorites ). I go through about one or two blades a month (as a girl who shaves her legs every couple days), Refill packs cost about $10-15 for three new blades. Over the year I will spend about.. $140+. Not including shaving cream/lotion etc. That is not a small amount of money. Now, with the Razor Shield I will only need a new blade (hypothetically of course) every two months, that means that I only spend about $80 on actual blades. Plus the $17.99 for Razor Shield. My total is now $100, that is still saving $40+. I think it is a great thing! And now lets toss in the environmental pluses, less razors in the landfill etc. Another great thing is that if you are hesitant about buying a full 15ml one they also offer a 5ml trial size, it retails for $6.99.
What I have found in the past few weeks I have been using the Razor Shield on my razor is that I also get a smoother closer shave, My legs stay smoother longer! Now I am going to get even more bang for my buck! Awesome!

The other two products I received were the Shave Cream and Buffer Stick. If you are a low maintenance person (which I assume is the point of the packaging of the buffer stick) you can actually just wash your face, rub the microdermabrasion (ing) stick against your wet face in circles, rinse it off and done! Look at that! Smooth skin :D

Not only is it easy to use the Buffer Stick does not have an over powering lingering scent (that I or anyone around me noticed). It does smell a bit masculine, it is a men's product, but I think it is really great for just about everyone. I love the ease of use, and great portable packaging. It is a solid which means it is less messy and impossible for it to explode in transit.
According to the site;
Eliminate 50 million barriers to healthy skin with this one-step microdermabrasion treatment. Buffer Stick combines hydration and long-lasting, skin-enriching treatment with professional-quality microdermabrasion.
Buffer Stick offers instant results with no pain or irritation, increased absorption of your skin care products and minimizes the appearance of dark spots and fine lines. Add to your grooming routine to hydrate your skin and gently remove dead skin cells while fighting ingrown hairs.
It retails for $24.99. I think it might be a little harsher than some of the other microdermbrasion products I have used in the past, but it is a great product and really does leave your skin super super soft after using it.

The Shave Cream
This is the only product I am not super psyched about, I actually will be giving this up because it does have a prominent masculine smell and honestly, my legs have no need to smell like a man just for fun. I do like that it allows for a very smooth shave, leaves them very soft, and overall preforms as promised on the site. I am sure my boyfriend will appreciate this product more than I do. The only issue I foresee is that he refuses to use a regular razor because he is worried he might cut his face open (kind of improbable). It may end up in my father's medicine cabinet just to avoid the silliness involved with getting my boyfriend to switch over.
According to the site;

Shave Cream hydrates and rejuvenates your skin by minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Our unique blend of natural oils and moisturizers allows your razor to glide effortlessly across your skin, reducing friction and irritation.
Our soothing low lather formula is designed to provide superior coverage while using less shave cream. As a result, your razor will perform better and your blades won’t clog from excess shave cream.

I think it is a great product, it retails for $12.99 on the HYD website.

A couple more awesome things about the company, I found a pretty rad advertisement saying that they don't do animal testing. If it isn't true I will find them and fight them for false advertisement.

Anyhow!

Thats about it! Love their stuff and get your men to check them out.

Question for the day.. How do you feel about using men's products instead of women's?

Until Next Time,

Perlier Refreshing Crackling Ice Body Water - Italian Sorbet Limone

Hey everyone!
My latest cool find is courtesy of Ifabbo :D
I requested the Perlier Refreshing Crackling Ice Body Water in Italian Sorbet Limone!
It crackles and fizzes and leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth and lemoney fresh smelling!

Technically the Crackling Body Water is part of the Fragrance collection Perlier offers. According to the HSN site;

Perlier Lemon Sorbet Refreshing Ice Granita
It's summertime. You're sweltering. All you want is a cool, refreshing sorbet. How about indulging in a little sorbet sweetness — for your skin? Exuding an exhilarating scent, this granita is the perfect summertime skincare refreshment.

  • Sparkling and crisp
  • Moisturizes and refreshes in one step
  • Makes your skin pleasantly smooth and scented
  • Crackles when applying to skin
  • Provides sudden and strong cooling effect
  • Formulated with food ingredients, just like a true fruit sorbet
  • Fresh and light texture gives a sorbet-like effect on the skin
  • Made in Italy

This is a pretty unique product. It really does leave your skin COOLER than it started out. It smells AMAZING. I love lemony scents and this one takes the cake! It is sweet but still crisp; smells nothing like the household cleaners of yesteryear. If you have ever had a lemon italian ice it really smells the way that tastes!!! I love it!!!!

The packaging is adorable! The green stripes are super cute and the aluminum bottle does not take away from its chic look. I love that the cap sits on the bottle SECURELY, so I do not have to worry about it becoming detached while it is in my beach bag. Everyone wants to know what perfume I am wearing when I have it on (the scent is pretty powerful so there is no point in wearing a different perfume; I like to wear ones that are floral with it when I feel like I MUST wear a separate perfume.

The only thing I cannot say I love is the Price. It is however a LUXURY BRAND; Made in ITALY; the Body Water retails for $24.50 on HSN.  However, I do have to say that I have used it almost daily for the past few weeks and it only feels a tiny bit lighter. It could be an amazing buy if you like luxury products; amazing scents and a unique experience. I hope I don't use as much as I think I do! Because then I will have this bottle for the upcoming months!

This is a really awesome product and I love that I was able to feature it thanks to Ifabbo :D

I would recommend it to anyone who loves lemon :D

Until Next Time,

GLITTERPUKEE

Reviva Labs Skin Care

Hello Everyone!

I want to introduce a really awesome skin care company that mostly focuses on Anti-Aging stuff. However, the other products that are for all skin types and ages are amazing!

Something about the company!
In 1973 when Reviva Labs was established, the word “Exfoliation” was unknown in America. That was over 40 years ago. It’s when Reviva Labs introduced the first non-chemical European Exfoliant to Health Food Stores, known as “Light Skin Peel”. It’s unique formula and blending remains unduplicated today.

Because Reviva has been a “quiet” company, most of you are probably not aware that Reviva was also the first in Health Food Stores with:
  1. A milder, non-drying program for acne
  2. Elastin
  3. Topical trace minerals
  4. Glycolic Acid (from dermatologist source)
  5. Hyaluronic Acid
  6. Vitamin P for spider veins and rosacea
  7. A new - ingredient-complex for under eye dark circles and others

Although Health Food Stores are Reviva’s major distribution channel, Reviva’s origins are actually in professional skin care salons. Reviva’s founder, Stephen Strassler, is one of America’s earliest Aestheticians.

It was (and is today) the testing of product safety and performance in various skin care salons that has been a unique and key factor in Reviva’s history of product effectiveness.

Product effectiveness is not only a matter of the right ingredients but the experience in blending the proper percentages. And the knowledge of the interaction of those ingredients.
The wrong percentage of one of the active ingredients could inactivate the performance of the product.

Now, the Products I recieved were the Pomegranate / Lactic Acid Exfoilant, Light Peel, Gycolic Acid Cleanser, and  the Anti- Irritant gel with Aloe.

What are my favorites?
Probably the Light Peel and the Glycolic Acid cleanser.

The Light Peel is a non chemical peel that pulls all the flakyness off your skin! It irritates my skin a bit because my skin is sooooo sensitive but in the end the results are totally worth it!! I love that it does not use any harsh chemicals. It is said to be the first of its kind, a physical instead of chemical peel. It is an easy product to use and I love how so and smooth my skin is left after using it.

According to their site;

Light Skin Peel 1.5oz (107)

Light Skin Peel 1.5oz
"Peeling" is a European term for one of the most unique European items in the entire cosmetic field. THIS IS NOT A HARSH CHEMICAL PEEL. It doesn't "peel skin" as we know it, but gently lifts off more hardened, dried skin cells than can be achieved by scrubs or any other "exfoliating" product. Dead-cell accumulation prevents treatment products from penetrating and keeps skin tone from looking fresh and vibrant. For aging and problem skin, PEEL is absolutely vital; it offers multiple benefits, which one can see and feel with just one application. Used by Europe's top Skin Treatment Specialists as a supplementary cleansing step in any skin care program. Any skin type, any age, can benefit from a once-a-week "Peel". Our Peel ingredients also stimulate the deeper new cells to move upward at a faster rate - causing the skin surface to look tighter, clearer and healthier.
It really is a wonderful product.

My other favorite was the Glycolic Acid Cleanser 4oz. It leaves the skin feeling silky and smooth without drying my skin!  The site description leaves a little wanting "
Removes makeup as well as deep cleans with mild exfoliation. Includes no fatty acids or oils common to other cleansers that could interfere with glycolic action. " However, it really is a wonderful cleanser. I have skin that is generally on the dry side and even after using Cetaphil my skin feels tight. The gentle cleansing that I get from the Glycol Acid Cleanser does not strip oils from my skin like others have. I would also recommend it for people who are trying to fade scarring because the Glycolic Acid content does promote cell turnover.

Anti-Irritant Gel!  This stuff works miracles. And that is actually the story behind it. It is an aloe type gel that feels great on the skin and seems to help heal faster. It has a complicated backstory about (what I think is magic) that I cannot transcribe here and can't find online (odd). I got sunburnt recently and I made it through half of my bottle of Anti-Irritant Gel. I used it in conjunction with an Aloe/ Lidocaine gel to help cut the burn.

The last item was the
Pomegranate / Lactic Acid Exfoilant ; it feels great once off the skin, is a bit of an odd consistency (lumpy, full of granules, creamy base product, bit inconsistent  but overall it is a great exfoilant! It uses a combination of low level chemicals exfoilants with a small amount of physical exfoilants. The granules gently rub off dead skin as you remove the Exfoilant. The creamy mask like base uses Lactic Acid to gently melt away dead skin while it is on your skin. You can use it up to three times a week and it immediately leaves you with improved skin texture. Talk about immediate results the Pomegranate / Lactic Acid Exfoilant gets you them.

Pomegranate / Lactic Acid Exfoliant 2oz (108)

Pomegranate / Lactic Acid Exfoliant 2oz

Reviva's new Pomegranate / Lactic Acid Exfoliant features all-natural ingredients. Lactic acid and a complex of plant & herbal extracts remove dead skin; pomegranate, a strong antioxidant, fights future skin damage and peptides, allantoin and soy treat past skin damage. Non-abrasive, each application of the mild, new exfoliant (can be used 3 times weekly), leaves skin looking clearer, brighter and feeling smoother.

Overall,
I would definitely recommend RevivaLabs products to anyone with skin! Seriously. Although their main focus may be anti-aging skin care, most of their products are good for all ages of skin. Anti-Aging skin care starts in the mid 20's so it really never is too soon to start protecting your skin :) The price point is really good; most things are under $20, and the products all last a really long time!

BTW!!!!!!!!!!!
Sunscreen is THE BEST ANTI_AGING product EVER. Nothing can beat protecting the collagen in your skin.

Savy Sun Care Tips

Hello everyone :D
I was looking through a website of Press Releases when I came across this one :D
It is about helping reduce damage after getting a sunburn. I am a bit odd, but I enjoy DAMAGE CONTROL!

(You can't tell but he is burnt as heck!)

Well…we’re in it now…summer and now you have a sunburn – now what?
Here are 5 steps to take when you have spent too much time under the sun:

1. Act quickly: As soon as you feel the tingle of a burn or see the pinkness in your
skin- take action. It can take 4-6 hours before the burn is fully apparent, and make
no mistake it’s a burn. Get out of the sun! Start cool compresses on the affected
area.

2. Assess the damage: Most sunburns, even those that cause a few blisters, can be
treated at home. But if a blistering burn covers 20% or more of the body seek
medical attention. Anyone with sunburn who is suffering fevers and chills should
also seek medical help.

3. Treat your skin: After a cool bath or shower slather on the body lotion. Apply
generously and repeat often. Use products with Vitamins C and E, although not
proven to treat sun damage there is a lot of evidence that they may help so why
not. And, of course, aloe vera. For severe burn with itching, pain, or swelling use
over the counter hydrocortisone cream. Do not scratch your burn.

4. Don't wait to medicate: Take over the counter pain medications, such as
ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB) or aspirin and antihistamines, such as
diphenhydramine (Benadryl) as soon as you see signs of sunburn. It cuts back on
the swelling and redness that is going to occur and might prevent some long-term
skin damage. It's not just treating the symptoms; it's treating the severity of the
symptoms. Acetaminophen (for example, Tylenol) will treat the pain, but does not
have the same anti-inflammatory effect so not as recommended.

5. Hydrate: Drink plenty of extra water, juice or sports drinks for several days to
prevent dehydration. Sign to look for: dry mouth, thirst, reduced urination,
headache, dizziness and sleepiness.

Take the sunburn as a warning that your sun-safety net has failed and vow to do better.
That means using sunscreen, covering up with clothing and hats and avoiding the sun as
much as possible between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Consider that even Hawaiian Tropic has retired their Bikini Contest and turned its brand
focus on skin protection and skin cancer prevention. You should too.

                                                          Common Myths:
No need for sunscreen on a cloudy day: Wrong, 40% of the sun’s ultraviolet rays
penetrate the cloud cover.
Using sunscreen will result in a Vitamin D deficiency: There was a recent study that
showed no deficiency in Vitamin D absorption due to sunscreen use. Studies continue on
the topic however, dermatologists recommend strongly the use of sunscreen to prevent
cancer. Vitamin D is available through food and supplements; it is not an excuse to skip
the sunscreen.
I only need sunscreen during the summer months: You should be using sunscreen all
year round.
Our Recommendations:
Wear sunscreens with a physical block like titanium dioxide or zinc oxide, although you
may find them less appealing because of the thickness and white cast to the product,
nanotechnology has helped make it thinner and more natural looking. Reapply, reapply,
and reapply every 90 minutes to 2 hours, religiously.
There is no such thing as a healthy tan; sun exposure causes 90% of skin aging. Enjoy the
sun in a healthy way.

I think this is a really awesome set of guidelines! PLEASE, look at the links that were included by the original author. I usually would edit information or press releases of this nature however I felt that the message is best the way it already has been written. I do not take credit for any of the research or time put into creating this list. I agree 100% with all of the statements made here. BE GOOD TO YOUR SKIN!!!!!!!!
