Curology: My last resort

Hello Lovlies,

So, I want to talk about my curology experience. I have struggled with mild to moderate acne for the past few years. However, about three months ago something changed and my skin went from regular to bad very quickly. I will be including photos of my skin from that time so please keep that in mind after the jump. The photos are not of the worst my skin got because I tried to wait it out and avoid photos for almost two weeks before breaking down and signing up for a Curology trial. My intitial cost was about $4 for shipping my first bottle. Each month following is $20 with a bottle of your custom prescription shipped every two to three months depending on your usage. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your care at 90 days you can get a full refund. 

Urban Decay B6 Complexion Prep Spray

Welcome back, I hope you had a wonderful week. Today I am going to be talking about a product that has been out forever but I recently rediscovered my love for it. The Urban Decay B6 Complexion Prep Spray has been sitting on my vanity for five-ever, but I recently started using it not only before my foundation but on my beauty blender type sponge to moisten it before buffing out any streaks. It makes this super easy to do without removing half of my foundation trying to achieve a flawless finish. The spray is super refreshing and makes my skin feel so much better. I generally dampen my entire face with the spray, let it dry most of the way then start my foundation routine. If parts of my face seem to dry, I just spray a little more.

While I don't know who did their clinical trials, I do agree with all of their claims... Except maybe the about fewer blemishes. My blemishes are never affected by anything beyond acne treatments and regular cleansing, while it would be awesome if this product did live up to this claim I personally did not see these results.

All in all, if you are looking for an easy to use priming spray type product Urban Decay B6 is quite wonderful. My only words of caution would be that due to the microfine mist this spray produces, don't accidentally inhale it!

HYD for men

Hey Ya'll!!!!!!!

So today; is not a normal post.... I am reviewing a bunch of men's products. Has my boyfriend even seen them yet? NO! And he probably will only ever get the shave cream. Why? Because they are too friggin awesome not too keep for myself XD

The products I am being a bit selfish about are from HYD for men. I received them as a member of the Ifabbo blogging community.

Razor Shield 

The line is focuses quite a bit on the product they call "Razor Shield". The environmental factors, etc. What everyone loves it for is that in the end it saves you money! It protects your razor from getting rusty, dull and unusable. If you are into the straight razors (sorry electric heads, this shield is a no go for you!) and don't just pick up the cheapest disposable ones in the aisle, you know how hefty the price of staying smooth is. That is the basis of the Razor Shield, it allows that one razor head to last for an entire month. Which is awesome! I shave my legs every other day (laziness more than lack of hair) and I am pretty sure that means I could stretch TWO MONTHS out of a single blade refill! That is so amazing in my mind, especially as I move toward college where money is tight and buying razors will come second to food.

 According to their site;

 That sounds pretty great just to start off with. 

Now; the math. If I spend about $15 on a starter package... which comes with one or two blades (I don't use pretty girly razors for the most part, shick quatro in mens or womens are my favorites ). I go through about one or two blades a month (as a girl who shaves her legs every couple days), Refill packs cost about $10-15 for three new blades. Over the year I will spend about.. $140+. Not including shaving cream/lotion etc. That is not a small amount of money. Now, with the Razor Shield I will only need a new blade (hypothetically of course) every two months, that means that I only spend about $80 on actual blades. Plus the $17.99 for Razor Shield. My total is now $100, that is still saving $40+. I think it is a great thing! And now lets toss in the environmental pluses, less razors in the landfill etc. Another great thing is that if you are hesitant about buying a full 15ml one they also offer a 5ml trial size, it retails for $6.99.

What I have found in the past few weeks I have been using the Razor Shield on my razor is that I also get a smoother closer shave, My legs stay smoother longer! Now I am going to get even more bang for my buck! Awesome!

The other two products I received were the Shave Cream and Buffer Stick. If you are a low maintenance person (which I assume is the point of the packaging of the buffer stick) you can actually just wash your face, rub the microdermabrasion (ing) stick against your wet face in circles, rinse it off and done! Look at that! Smooth skin :D 

Not only is it easy to use the Buffer Stick does not have an over powering lingering scent (that I or anyone around me noticed). It does smell a bit masculine, it is a men's product, but I think it is really great for just about everyone. I love the ease of use, and great portable packaging. It is a solid which means it is less messy and impossible for it to explode in transit.  

According to the site;

It retails for $24.99. I think it might be a little harsher than some of the other microdermbrasion products I have used in the past, but it is a great product and really does leave your skin super super soft after using it.

The Shave Cream

This is the only product I am not super psyched about, I actually will be giving this up because it does have a prominent masculine smell and honestly, my legs have no need to smell like a man just for fun. I do like that it allows for a very smooth shave, leaves them very soft, and overall preforms as promised on the site. I am sure my boyfriend will appreciate this product more than I do. The only issue I foresee is that he refuses to use a regular razor because he is worried he might cut his face open (kind of improbable). It may end up in my father's medicine cabinet just to avoid the silliness involved with getting my boyfriend to switch over. 

According to the site;

I think it is a great product, it retails for $12.99 on the HYD website. 

A couple more awesome things about the company, I found a pretty rad advertisement saying that they don't do animal testing. If it isn't true I will find them and fight them for false advertisement.

I requested the Perlier Refreshing Crackling Ice Body Water in Italian Sorbet Limone! 
It crackles and fizzes and leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth and lemoney fresh smelling!

Technically the Crackling Body Water is part of the Fragrance collection Perlier offers. According to the HSN site;

This is a pretty unique product. It really does leave your skin COOLER than it started out. It smells AMAZING. I love lemony scents and this one takes the cake! It is sweet but still crisp; smells nothing like the household cleaners of yesteryear. If you have ever had a lemon italian ice it really smells the way that tastes!!! I love it!!!! 

The packaging is adorable! The green stripes are super cute and the aluminum bottle does not take away from its chic look. I love that the cap sits on the bottle SECURELY, so I do not have to worry about it becoming detached while it is in my beach bag. Everyone wants to know what perfume I am wearing when I have it on (the scent is pretty powerful so there is no point in wearing a different perfume; I like to wear ones that are floral with it when I feel like I MUST wear a separate perfume. 

The only thing I cannot say I love is the Price. It is however a LUXURY BRAND; Made in ITALY; the Body Water retails for $24.50 on HSN.  However, I do have to say that I have used it almost daily for the past few weeks and it only feels a tiny bit lighter. It could be an amazing buy if you like luxury products; amazing scents and a unique experience. I hope I don't use as much as I think I do! Because then I will have this bottle for the upcoming months! 

This is a really awesome product and I love that I was able to feature it thanks to Ifabbo :D 

I would recommend it to anyone who loves lemon :D

Reviva Labs Skin Care

I want to introduce a really awesome skin care company that mostly focuses on Anti-Aging stuff. However, the other products that are for all skin types and ages are amazing!  

Something about the company! 
In 1973 when Reviva Labs was established, the word “Exfoliation” was unknown in America. That was over 40 years ago. It’s when Reviva Labs introduced the first non-chemical European Exfoliant to Health Food Stores, known as “Light Skin Peel”. It’s unique formula and blending remains unduplicated today.

Because Reviva has been a “quiet” company, most of you are probably not aware that Reviva was also the first in Health Food Stores with:

1. A milder, non-drying program for acne

Now, the Products I recieved were the Pomegranate / Lactic Acid Exfoilant, Light Peel, Gycolic Acid Cleanser, and  the Anti- Irritant gel with Aloe. 


What are my favorites?
Probably the Light Peel and the Glycolic Acid cleanser. 


The Light Peel is a non chemical peel that pulls all the flakyness off your skin! It irritates my skin a bit because my skin is sooooo sensitive but in the end the results are totally worth it!! I love that it does not use any harsh chemicals. It is said to be the first of its kind, a physical instead of chemical peel. It is an easy product to use and I love how so and smooth my skin is left after using it. 

According to their site;

Light Skin Peel 1.5oz (107) "Peeling" is a European term for one of the most unique European items in the entire cosmetic field. THIS IS NOT A HARSH CHEMICAL PEEL. It doesn't "peel skin" as we know it, but gently lifts off more hardened, dried skin cells than can be achieved by scrubs or any other "exfoliating" product. Dead-cell accumulation prevents treatment products from penetrating and keeps skin tone from looking fresh and vibrant. For aging and problem skin, PEEL is absolutely vital; it offers multiple benefits, which one can see and feel with just one application. Used by Europe's top Skin Treatment Specialists as a supplementary cleansing step in any skin care program. Any skin type, any age, can benefit from a once-a-week "Peel". Our Peel ingredients also stimulate the deeper new cells to move upward at a faster rate - causing the skin surface to look tighter, clearer and healthier. It really is a wonderful product. My other favorite was the Glycolic Acid Cleanser 4oz. It leaves the skin feeling silky and smooth without drying my skin!  The site description leaves a little wanting "Removes makeup as well as deep cleans with mild exfoliation. Includes no fatty acids or oils common to other cleansers that could interfere with glycolic action. " However, it really is a wonderful cleanser. I have skin that is generally on the dry side and even after using Cetaphil my skin feels tight. The gentle cleansing that I get from the Glycol Acid Cleanser does not strip oils from my skin like others have. I would also recommend it for people who are trying to fade scarring because the Glycolic Acid content does promote cell turnover.  Anti-Irritant Gel!  This stuff works miracles. And that is actually the story behind it. It is an aloe type gel that feels great on the skin and seems to help heal faster. It has a complicated backstory about (what I think is magic) that I cannot transcribe here and can't find online (odd). I got sunburnt recently and I made it through half of my bottle of Anti-Irritant Gel. I used it in conjunction with an Aloe/ Lidocaine gel to help cut the burn.  The last item was the Pomegranate / Lactic Acid Exfoilant ; it feels great once off the skin, is a bit of an odd consistency (lumpy, full of granules, creamy base product, bit inconsistent  but overall it is a great exfoilant! It uses a combination of low level chemicals exfoilants with a small amount of physical exfoilants. The granules gently rub off dead skin as you remove the Exfoilant. The creamy mask like base uses Lactic Acid to gently melt away dead skin while it is on your skin. You can use it up to three times a week and it immediately leaves you with improved skin texture. Talk about immediate results the Pomegranate / Lactic Acid Exfoilant gets you them.  Pomegranate / Lactic Acid Exfoliant 2oz (108) Reviva's new Pomegranate / Lactic Acid Exfoliant features all-natural ingredients. Lactic acid and a complex of plant & herbal extracts remove dead skin; pomegranate, a strong antioxidant, fights future skin damage and peptides, allantoin and soy treat past skin damage. Non-abrasive, each application of the mild, new exfoliant (can be used 3 times weekly), leaves skin looking clearer, brighter and feeling smoother. Overall, I would definitely recommend RevivaLabs products to anyone with skin! Seriously. Although their main focus may be anti-aging skin care, most of their products are good for all ages of skin. Lashem! Healthier, Natural, Effective lash solution!

Hello everyone!

     I am supposed to be working on getting my stuff condensed so I can make the moving to a dorm process easier .... but instead I am writing for you lovely ladies!
I got an amazing opportunity to try out some fabulous products from Lashem.

First, I want to start off with the packaging.
The packaging on the actual lash serum is amazing, beautiful, a deep gunmetal gray and with a good weight to it. I love the brush it comes with. I also love the packaging the eye gels come in. Pumps with clear parts so you can see how much more is left. Metal accents. It's beautiful!
The only (ONLY) cripe I have about the packaging is that the Double Trouble Mascara's pretty silver tube's silver coating peels. Its annoying. Silver specs get everywhere. So if you travel a lot with your mascara ,it lives in your purse/makeup bag most of the time, then it will start to peel. Just a heads up. Small annoyance in comparison to how awesome the mascara is :)   
(Edit: It seems that since I received the product from the company they have changed the packaging of the two skin care products. And maybe the Mascara? Either way they look super fab now :D I love knowing how much is left but the new silver tubes are super sleek!)

Hydroxatone BB Cream!

Yes,
I am hammering these out. I feel so silly for taking a break from writing. It is so nice to be doing things that feel productive other than attempting to pack for moving away. I don't want to move. I cannot figure out how to condense all my makeup stuff into a small enough space that I will be able to fit it into a dorm? O.o 

    Anyhow, Innovative products! I love them. Ifabbo really knows how to pick them too! I love this BB cream and I have been yearning for a full sized tube of my very own for a long time now. 
Hydroxatone BB cream in Medium/ Light is pretty awesome. It has an of SPF 45 and a goes on smoothly! I love how it feels and it does not dry to a powdery finish like most BB creams I have tried. Score one for Hydroxatone! 

Mally Beauty!! Review and swatch photo bomb :D

This is a post about some pretty awesome products from Mally Beauty. Where have you heard that name before? Well the products are sold on QVC and the creator, Mally herself, is a well known makeup artist.

The two products I was sent are: Evercolor Silk eye defining system and Evercolor poreless face defender. 

Which did I like more? It is a toss up. But I will introduce ya'll to the first one! Evercolor silk eye defining system.

Why is it awesome?

Packaging is absolutely adorable!! Pastel snake skin boxes!

The actual packaging of the products are also fun. They are the same color as the outer boxes in a soft metalic plastic compacts. The Eye defining system was in the color Tidal Wave. 

Using just the flat oval side of the double sided brush I was able to create a fun colorful cat eye with a sharp wing!

I lined this eye with the eyeliner and then went over it with the powder eye shadow to soften the look!

Cute packaging!!!!!!!

Comes with it's own brush!!! 

The top is just the eyeshadow (no primer used in any of these swatches). The second from the top is the eye liner only and the bottom is the eyeliner smudged out.

Eye shadow layered over eyeliner. The darker section is only eyeliner the shimmery is with eye shadow over it. 

These two were super easy to apply. The eye shadow brush is small and precise. So you can layer eye shadow directly over the eyeliner and not have any unnecessary smudginess!

I  love the color, it is universal and would look good on anyone. It is on trend and fun for any time of the year depending on how you wear it! I love to wear the eyeliner smudged along my lower lash line to give me a fun pop of color!

This product is not as obvious. It is a great pore refiner and feels wonderful on the skin. But there isn't a whole lot you can say about it. I love the packaging. It is convenient and easy to use. It includes a foam round that is soft on the skin and it creates a soft finish that is quite nice. Also a great multitasker! You can use it both under and over your finished makeup.

Now that is just about it.

Nature's Beauty Works

Hey everyone!~

Quickie review here.. remember forever ago when I said I would be reviewing a million and one different kinds of wet wipes? Well this is the first of them.

I was sent two different kinds, sensitive skin- chamomile and refreshing mint all purpose mini wipes. 

I wanted to love the products so badly. 
But the formula of the wipes were not as well made as many others I have used in the past.

My sensitive skin was not happy when I used the supposedly sensitive skin friendly full sized set. I loved the smell but my skin was left dry and very uncomfortable. They were wonderfully sized, thick and strong. But I could not stand that I needed a separate moisturizer with WET WIPES! They should simply clean off your face gently without stripping the skin of necessary oils while removing dirt and debris of the day. Always a plus when they can remove waterproof makeup.
Unfortunately these will be given to a friend who has oily skin. I cannot use them with my combination skin.

The mini wipes on the other hand were quite nice. They were fresh and minty. Good for after eating more *potent* finger foods like cheeses and great for wiping down feet after a long day at the beach. Refreshing mint on sore feet = win!
I wish the mini wipes packaging was a bit better. The  wipes are often pulled apart as you attempt to wretch them from the clutches of the mini canister. Then you have one very thin not very useful wipe. Who would want that?

Anyhow. That is about it. I would recommend the mini wipes to anyone looking for an easy way to cleanup messy hands, dirty feet (after a day of running around in the humidity in flips flops) etc. But I don't think I will be reaching back to these products in the future.

After.. I have found that the Natural Smokey and Liquid eyeliner have the best staying power over a few different tests..

These are some of the most amazing eyeliner products I have ever used. I love that they do not tug on the eye in any way. They do not run when you splash your face with water... but a good cry does seem to dislodge them fairly easily. They suggest the use of just some warm water and what I found to be an awesome microfiber wash cloth that they include in their Ultimate Goddess set. 

       The products I received were the Natural Smokey eye pencil, of which is the non-shimmery black pencil pictured in the swatches and photos above. It has amazing staying power and I love that all of the pencils included a built in smudger!

The Bronze Amulet Goddess pencil, which is a beautiful bronze that gently adds some shimmer to your eyes without being too dramatic.

The Charcol Obsidian Smokey Goddess pencil, the shimmery black featured above. It is a great soft black that adds a little extra something that you just wouldn't get with a plain old black pencil.

The Liquid Define eyeliner. The finest tip eyeliner I have used in a very long time. It is super pigmented, drys just fast enough that you can catch it before it is there for the day but you wont smudge it if you close your eye too soon. I was able to get sooo close to my lashline that most people would not even notice that I am wearing eyeliner. I was also able to wear the liner all day. 

Lo and behold. I forgot to take off my eyeliner one of the days I was testing these products. I woke up without the nasty raccoon eyes or the I  haven't slept in days look/never got home last night black stains on my pillow. 

THE MASCARA!!! There is a reason why Eye of Horus is famous for their mascara!!!! It allows for both natural and dramatic lash looks. The mascara doesn't budge during the day. The brush is amazing and allows you to get every little lash without creating a crazy clumpy mess. You know all of the companies that promise *clump free* yada yada??  This mascara is the closest to clump free I have ever used. I apply one coat from underneath to put my lashes in position and then a second to give them a fuller look from the top. And I barely need to wipe off the brush either. Eye of Horus products are now my new go to :)

 

I would hate to bore you guys... But I also received an awesome pencil sharpener and mirror compact from the company. To say the least they are awesome. No splinters from the sharpener and there is a magnifying mirror in the compact. As well as a normal one.

They are in Australia however, so I do understand if the shipping and the fact that they seem to retail for A LOT. But remember that the site is not in USD and shipping isn't too bad when you get more than one product.
