Hello Everyone :DD
Today I am introducing a really wonderful company that is on Etsy. They make everything by hand and in small batches. Almost all the ingredients are easy to pronounce and there are no harsh chemicals to mess with your skin. This brand is Rain Water Botanicals :) I try not to copy and past from a companies page but their start up story is inspiring and really quite wonderful so I feel like it should be shared.
Our Story
Our first and most popular product, Rainwater Botanicals Healing Salve, was formulated in 1999. We were looking for an all natural multi-purpose salve to take along on camping trips for minor cuts and scrapes. At that time there was very little on the market that met our needs, so into the kitchen we went.
Our first ingredient was, and still is Comfrey. Comfrey has incredible healing capabilities and works wonders on many types of skin problems. Through endless hours of research, and some old fashioned trial and error, we believe we have come up with the perfect recipe.
In 2000, we started sharing our Healing Salve with friends and family and received rave reviews. News traveled fast, and we began to hear what we call "Owie Stories" from all over the country. We started sending out Healing salve samples and soon began to hear stories of miraculous recovery from dry skin, eczema, rashes, insect bits, cuts scrapes and diaper rash!
In 2004 we began putting together several lines of products that we truly believe in and personally use.
Please know that we sell only products that we truly believe in and we personally test each and every product. If you have comments or concerns please feel free to contact us!
I received five items from the Rainwater Botanicals line. The Brightening Face Lotion, Ain't no Bugs on Me bug spray, Big Blue soap, Intensive Eye cream and Bergamot and Vanilla Hand and Body Butter.
(all photos are from the Rainwater Botanicals Etsy site!)
My favorites have to be the Big Blue Soap and the Intensive Eye Cream. The soap is absolutely wonderful. It is an over sized bar that didn't even fit into my soap dish! I had to cut in half in order to not lose it every time I went to use it because it didn't fit in my hand well >..< It smells a bit like fruitloops to me while using it. But after it smells fresh and wonderful! I love how my skin feels and smells after using this soap.
I really like the intensive eye cream simply because it feels really nice on my skin and doesn't sit, but it still has a nice slip to it. It doesn't pull on the fragile skin beneath your eyes! Perfect!
It helps with the bags under my eyes (from not sleeping as a college student) and doesn't stay greasy like some others I have used in the past. It smells fresh. A bit sweet but overall it isn't a strong scent.
The Brightening Face Lotion is really awesome but it isn't my favorite only because my skin is pretty dry and it isn't moisturizing enough for me to wear on it's own. My skin starts to suck the moisture out of it really quickly. It does have a certain level of SPF because it contains Zinc Oxide which is a natural blocker of UV rays. The other ingredients in the lotion work with the combination of the SPF to help brighten your skin. Its pretty awesome :) I just layer it with my daily moisturizer so it doesn't leave white streaks on my face. It is packaged in a dark brown glass bottle with a pump dispenser.
The Bergamot and Vanilla Hand and Body Butter is so light and fluffy! I love how smooth it goes onto the skin and leaves the skin feeling moisturized but not greasy. I don't mind greasy( I am an avid using of skin and body oils) but it is nice when I am going somewhere or need to put on pants and don't want to have residue on the inside of my pant legs.
The only one I have not yet had the chance to test it's true potential is the bug spray. Ain't No Bugs on Me smells wonderful, Penny Royal, Sandalwood and Geranium. It sounds like it would work but you never really know. I did wear it on a "nature hike" through a park and I did not get bitten but the density of mosquitoes at that time was minimal so I feel like it wasn't the most accurate test of the bug repellent's ability to do its job.
Overall Rain Water Botanicals far exceeded my expectations. All of the products are now part of my weekly regime. I love them and would suggest their products to anyone who is looking to make more of their skin care naturally derived.
Until Next Time
