Rain Water Botanicals

Hello Everyone :DD

Today I am introducing a really wonderful company that is on Etsy. They make everything by hand and in small batches. Almost all the ingredients are easy to pronounce and there are no harsh chemicals to mess with your skin. This brand is Rain Water Botanicals :) I try not to copy and past from a companies page but their start up story is inspiring and really quite wonderful so I feel like it should be shared.

Our Story
Our first and most popular product, Rainwater Botanicals Healing Salve, was formulated in 1999. We were looking for an all natural multi-purpose salve to take along on camping trips for minor cuts and scrapes. At that time there was very little on the market that met our needs, so into the kitchen we went.

Our first ingredient was, and still is Comfrey. Comfrey has incredible healing capabilities and works wonders on many types of skin problems. Through endless hours of research, and some old fashioned trial and error, we believe we have come up with the perfect recipe.

In 2000, we started sharing our Healing Salve with friends and family and received rave reviews. News traveled fast, and we began to hear what we call "Owie Stories" from all over the country. We started sending out Healing salve samples and soon began to hear stories of miraculous recovery from dry skin, eczema, rashes, insect bits, cuts scrapes and diaper rash!

In 2004 we began putting together several lines of products that we truly believe in and personally use.

Please know that we sell only products that we truly believe in and we personally test each and every product. If you have comments or concerns please feel free to contact us!

I received five items from the Rainwater Botanicals line. The Brightening Face Lotion, Ain't no Bugs on Me bug spray, Big Blue soap, Intensive Eye cream and Bergamot and Vanilla Hand and Body Butter.

(all photos are from the Rainwater Botanicals Etsy site!)

My favorites have to be the Big Blue Soap and the Intensive Eye Cream. The soap is absolutely wonderful. It is an over sized bar that didn't even fit into my soap dish! I had to cut in half in order to not lose it every time I went to use it because it didn't fit in my hand well >..< It smells a bit like fruitloops to me while using it. But after it smells fresh and wonderful! I love how my skin feels and smells after using this soap.

I really like the intensive eye cream simply because it feels really nice on my skin and doesn't sit, but it still has a nice slip to it. It doesn't pull on the fragile skin beneath your eyes! Perfect!
It helps with the bags under my eyes (from not sleeping as a college student) and doesn't stay greasy like some others I have used in the past. It smells fresh. A bit sweet but overall it isn't a strong scent.

The Brightening Face Lotion is really awesome but it isn't my favorite only because my skin is pretty dry and it isn't moisturizing enough for me to wear on it's own. My skin starts to suck the moisture out of it really quickly. It does have a certain level of SPF because it contains Zinc Oxide which is a natural blocker of UV rays. The other ingredients in the lotion work with the combination of the SPF to help brighten your skin. Its pretty awesome :) I just layer it with my daily moisturizer so it doesn't leave white streaks on my face. It is packaged in a dark brown glass bottle with a pump dispenser.

The Bergamot and Vanilla Hand and Body Butter is so light and fluffy! I love how smooth it goes onto the skin and leaves the skin feeling moisturized but not greasy. I don't mind greasy( I am an avid using of skin and body oils) but it is nice when I am going somewhere or need to put on pants and don't want to have residue on the inside of my pant legs.

The only one I have not yet had the chance to test it's true potential is the bug spray. Ain't No Bugs on Me smells wonderful, Penny Royal, Sandalwood and Geranium. It sounds like it would work but you never really know. I did wear it on a "nature hike" through a park and I did not get bitten but the density of mosquitoes at that time was minimal so I feel like it wasn't the most accurate test of the bug repellent's ability to do its job.

Overall Rain Water Botanicals far exceeded my expectations. All of the products are now part of my weekly regime. I love them and would suggest  their products to anyone who is looking to make more of their skin care naturally derived.

Ellovi Butter!!

Hey everyone!

Amazing natural ,eco friendly, cruelty free all around awesome sauce brand to share with ya'll today :)

Ellovi!! I am going to copy and paste their schpeal here :D

Powerful Ingredients

We created Butter with powerful natural ingredients that invigorate skin. Ellovi Butter is pure, Vegan, cruelty-free, eco-friendly, ethical, intensely hydrating, and will leave your skin incredibility smooth and more youthful looking.

Highly Concentrated without Water

Water-based body butters (most of them) actually drain your skin of moisture because they evaporate. Butter is different. It's made without water and will keep your skin hydrated for days.

Intense Hydration

The secret to staying young forever is moisture, moisture, and more moisture. That's why Butter is full of skin hydrating nutrients! Keeping your skin hydrated is the best way to prevent and treat lines and wrinkles.

Benefits of Butter

  • Made with six powerful ingredients that sooth and rebuild damaged skin.
  • Feeds your skin cells with essential nutrients that hydrate thirsty skin making it difficult for lines and wrinkles to develop.
  • Nothing artificial. The light and earthy aroma of Butter comes from the raw ingredients.
  • Helps protect your skin from UV rays, sun damage, and blistering cold conditions.
  • No junk. Free of parabens, SLS, synthetic chemicals, fillers, and other additives. Butter is 100% Vegan and cruelty free.
  • Comes in a 3.5oz (104ml) eco-friendly glass jar.
Other than the fact that there isn't a whole lot to say after that here is my take on these awesome Butters!

I was sent a full sized jar of Butter; retails for $26 + $3 shipping. And in the terror of a heat wave this poor butter was shipped in it melted. A LOT. It was melted through the closure between the jar and the cap into the packing material. Did I care? A little, it was messy to clean up but I doubt it happens often. What does happen often is melting in general. The product MELTS into your skin WITH NO EFFORT. And I appreciate the instructions included as to how to save your poor melty butter from a sad existence as such XD

I LOVE how easy it is to use. The packaging is elegant, refined and beautiful in its simplicity. (image from the Ellovi facebook page)
It also has a really nice weight to it. I know that might seem strange but I like it when glass jars feel nice in my hand. The 3.5 oz size is generous to some, but I know I will be out soon because I want to bath in it every time I open up the jar.

I have used Shea butter and Coconut oil mixes before (I made them myself) but the other oils that have been added to the mix, Macadamia Nut oil, Hemp seed oil etc. really add to the overall benefits and experience you get from the Butter. My haphazard mix does not compare to this beautifully crafted Butter.

It feels wonderful on your skin, it does not stay greasy for long, melts in, leaving your skin soft, smooth, and happy glowy.

I would recommend it to anyone looking for a VEGAN option in skin care and body care. A big ole thumbs up and A+ from GlitterPukee!!!

Astara Skin Care (amazing stuff!)

Hey everyone,
So today I am going to talk about Astara Skin Care
First off, I want to say that all of the products were really really wonderful. I felt like they lived up to their claims, the masks didn't smell bad, and they didn't feel like they were hurting my skin more than helping (extreme sensitivity makes many things not so fun to use).

I love the brand and what they stand for. Natural organic skin care for great skin. Fab :)
I received three masks, the Activated Antioxidant Infusion, and the Antioxidant Light Moisturizer.

The packaging is very nice. They all came in these heavy glass (mini sized)  jars. The only thing I would change about it is that I would put the Activated Antioxidant Infusion the same dark blue jar the full sized one comes in! It shouldn't be exposed to the light logically. Antioxidants can break down when exposed to UV light and the effectiveness of any skin car product is protected when you keep it in a cool dark place! (Mini rant.. sorry -__-")

The three masks are super cool. I picked out from the many different masks to try. The ones I ultimately ended up receiving were the Blue Flame, Violet Flame and Green Papaya.
